Obituary for Marion Shaw (Davis)

Marion (Davis) Shaw, 104 of Williamstown, MA died Tuesday January 9, 2018 at her home.
She was born in Enchant, Alberta, Canada on January 19, 1913 first born of homesteaders Harry and Marion (Hill) Davis. The family moved to Michigan in 1924 and Marion graduated from Dearborn High School in Dearborn, MI where she was elected the first female president of the class.
Marion was employed in education in Michigan where she met her husband. While he was serving in the Navy, they lived in California and Iowa. The couple moved to Williamstown in 1949 where her husband coached the Williams College basketball team. She worked at Pine Cobble School and in the office at the First Congregational Church. Marion was well-known for her flower arrangements for weddings, the church and events at Williams College.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Williamstown. Marion enjoyed silver-making, reading, sewing and gardening and especially enjoyed attending Williams College basketball games while her husband was coaching. She also loved to paint and painted over 100 paintings.
She was the widow of Alex John Shaw who died on November 29, 2009. They were married on April 8, 1935.
Survivors include one sister- Norma Curtis of Michigan and Florida; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, neighbors and her close family friends, the Mason family.
She was predeceased by her son, John Davis Shaw who died on January 2, 2014; infant daughters Mary Jean in 1940 and Marianne in 1941; and four sisters and two brothers.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Marion Shaw will be Saturday January 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Congregational Church of Williamstown. Burial will be in the spring in the Williams College Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Williamstown at 906 Main St. Williamstown, MA 01267.
